
Weed cookies can be a cool treat to break out when you have guests coming over to hang out. They’re not difficult to make, and you control just how much THC each cookie will have. You can make these cookies in a variety of flavors: chocolate chip, sugar, ginger snap, almond, oatmeal, peanut butter, toffee chocolate chip, and many other varieties.
For most recipes, you can use marijuana butter (pre-infused) at your local dispensary. If you want to use your own, home-grown pot, you will need to make your own marijuana-infused butter. The remaining ingredients in each recipe are similar to what you would use to make cookies without marijuana: flour, eggs, sugar, baking soda, vanilla, water, and salt.
Making the Marijuana Butter (aka “Cannabutter)
Step 1. Start by decarboxylating your buds in the oven (taking THCA to THC). Place the buds on a cookie sheet and heat the oven to 135 degrees. Place the buds in the heated oven for about an hour.
Step 2. Grind your buds and use an online calculator to determine how much THC each cookie will have. For example, if you add 500 mg of pot to one cup of butter and make 24 cookies, each cookie will have about 21mg of THC. The amount of weed you use will depend on how potent you want the cookies to be. Beginners should really shoot for 5-10mg per cookie to start.
Step 3. Measure out one cup of regular butter purchased at any grocery store. Using a small saucepan, melt the butter at a low temperature. If you use a high temperature, you’ll get a burnt taste in the butter.
Step 4. Once the butter is melted, add your grind and mix it well. When you are ready to start making the cookies, you will need to strain the butter into your mixing bowl to remove any leaves or other debris from the grinds.
Baking your Cookies
Choose which recipe you want to prepare and find the directions online. Here, we will give you a recipe for Chocolate Chip Weed Cookies as they are honestly the most popular.
Ingredients:
- 3 cups of flour
- 2 cups of chocolate chips (1 to 2 bags)
- 1 cup of weed butter
- 1 cup of packed brown sugar
- 1 cup of white sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 2 teaspoons of vanilla extract
- 1 teaspoon of baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon of salt
Step 1. Pre-heat your oven to 350 degrees.
Step 2. Add the butter and sugars together in a large mixing bowl.
Step3. Add the eggs and stir. Stir in the vanilla and baking soda.
Step 4. In a separate bowl, sift together your flour and salt. Add this to the creamed mixture slowly while folding the dough.
Step 5. Finally, add your chocolate chips.
Note: If you find the dough is too sticky or creamy, add more flour ¼ cup at a time until the dough is easier to handle. If the dough is too stiff, add hot water 1 tablespoon at a time until the dough is softer.
Step 6. Make about 24 dough balls and place them 2 inches apart on an ungreased cookie sheet (you can also cover the cookie sheet with parchment if you like).
Step 7. Bake for about 10-12 minutes. The edges should be brown and the cookies flat.
Step 8. Place the baked cookies on a wire rack or platter to cool.
