Anyone who loves cannabis definitely hates to see any portion of the plant discarded. With this recipe, you’ll no longer have to mourn the loss of your plant or leftovers from your last bag.
Ingredients:
-At least a ¼ of a cup of stems
-Cheesecloth or other type of filter
-Teapot or regular cooking pot
-Water
Step 1. Either break the stems by hand or use a grinder to allow the water to easily penetrate the stems.
Step 2. Add the stems to 3 cups of water. It is not necessary to boil the water, however, your tea will be done quicker with boiled water.
Step 3. You’ll notice that the water will begin to turn a pale shade of green once the water has started pushing out the CBD. How long you allow the stems to steep is a matte of preference (though 5-10 minutes is usually long enough).
Step 4. Once you have made your cannabis stem tea you’ll need to strain it either through a coffee filter or cheesecloth.
Step 5. Once you have strained your brew you can add whatever flavorings you like such as lemon, honey, or even cinnamon.
Some also like to include a binding agent such as alcohol, oil/butter, or whole milk, though there is still much debate on if this is truly necessary to create a nice brew. Try different variations for your stem tea, and be warned that milk may lessen the potency of the tea.
Don’t expect to receive the same effects from your cannabis stem tea as you would from smoking it. However, if you’re looking for the calming effect that cannabis can bring, or a sleep aid, and you find that you want to take a break from smoking and vaping, this tea may be right up your alley.
You will still receive the same healing properties that cannabis is known to offer, and you will enjoy the fact that you can sip on your tea while everyone is none the wiser to your beverage of choice.
You can store your tea in the refrigerator for no more than 3 days. However, it’s important to note that cannabis stem tea begins to lose its potency hours after you make it.
