Nothing takes you back to your childhood like a gummy bear. Sticky, chewy and sweet, these little treats are nearly irresistible even when not infused with CBD. Imagine raising them to a new level of appeal by infusing them with cannabis!
Supplies & Ingredients For CBD Gummies
Believe it or not, making weed gummy bears is quite easy. In fact, it is a favorite among homemade edibles because of its simplicity and universal appeal. All you’ll need is a few pieces of everyday kitchen equipment, some infused oil, and the patience to whisk the mixture for a very long time.
The following is a list of the equipment you’ll need to make weed gummies:
• Stove
• Cooking pot
• Whisk
• Gummy bear molds
• Dropper
• Freezer
It’s important to note that the potency of your gummies will depend on their size as well as on the CBD (or THC ) content of the oil you use. So to say, beginners should be cautious when trying this or any other type of cannabis-infused edible for the first time.
Below is a list of the ingredients you will need to make weed gummies:
-1/2 cup cannabis-infused coconut oil (it should be solid at room temperature)
-1/2 cup cold water
-85 gram packet of your choice of flavored gelatin (strawberry or cherry are highly recommended)
-2 tbsp plain (unflavored) gelatin
-1/2 sunflower or soy lecithin (liquid lecithin) (optional)
Instructions For CBD Gummies
Step 1. To prepare your gummy molds, spray them thoroughly with nonstick spray.
Step 2. Place your pot on the stove and turn to low heat.
Step 3. Add water, the cannabis-infused coconut oil and the sunflower/soy lecithin. Stir continuously until the mixture has a consistent texture and all of the coconut oil has been blended in.
Step 4. While continuing to stir, add in both the flavored and unflavored gelatins. Whisk the mixture for 10 to 15 minutes on low heat. Do not try to rush this process as the gelatin must be completely dissolved. Make sure it does not come to a boil.
Step 5. Without taking the pot off the heating element, begin using your dropper to fill the gummy bear molds. (most gummy bear molds will come with this small, turkey baster-like device.)
Don’t waste time. If you notice that the ingredients are starting to separate, that means the mixture is getting too cool.
Step 6. While filling the molds, continue to whisk what remains in the cooking pot to keep the oil from separating.
Step 7. Lift each mold two inches off the table and let it fall to fill any air pockets. This is optional, but you can add some cornstarch or citric acid to keep your gummies from sticking together.
Step 8. When you’re done, place the gummy bear molds in the freezer for 20 to 25 minutes. Remove and enjoy!
Because you and your friends are likely to have a hard time eating just one of these addictive and potent little treats, be conscious of how and where they are stored. Keep them away from pets and children, and be sure that the container where you keep them is well-marked. Chances are, you will be making these delicious gummies quite often!
