Ruderalis Cannabis is mostly used among people who want to have a higher range of CBD in their plant. It’s a species of Cannabis plant that’s been popular for many years, growing throughout Russia and Central Asia. It was seen as an ancestor of other varieties but has now been classified as its own species.
How’s It Different?
This plant, unlike its THC rich siblings, is filled with CBD. This means that most of the people that benefit from this plant are those who need medical marijuana routinely. Ruderalis also grows to be a lot smaller than regular cannabis, meaning that it’s the perfect size for someone who wants to grow it on their own. It also auto-flowers, another big perk for those trying to grow it on their own for medicine.
This is also a good thing for breeders, who have been known to breed hybrid plants. When mixed with a Sativa for example, the height of the Sativa is reduced, allowing for easier indoor growing. It also results in cannabis strains that have higher amounts of CBD, opening up the market to those who would prefer the higher concentration of CBD to the THC.
What Does “Auto-flower” Mean?
Normally when cannabis is being grown, there’s a cycle that it goes through where it produces the buds of cannabinoids that contain CBD and THC. This process is called “photoperiod”, where the cannabis grower has to change the light settings to 12 hours a day minimum of no light.
However, with Ruderalis, this isn’t needed. The plant automatically flowers on its own about three to four weeks after it has sprouted from the seed. This is extremely handy for growers looking to make their growing efforts a bit easier.
What Are The Effects? Can You Get High From Ruderalis?
While there is a large amount of CBD that this plant produces, it’s accompanied by a very small amount of THC. This is much less than a Sativa or Indica, meaning you won’t be getting that signature “high” that most smokers are used to, unfortunately…sad face.
